Minzi Zheng

Born in Taiwan, China,A native of Taiwan, Minzi Zheng has performed as the section oboist with the symphony orchestra of Germany at the Görlitz-Zittau theatre orchestra, and as a substitute oboist with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2016, she has served as the principal oboist of the Ningbo Symphony Orchestra.

Minzi Zheng received her Master degree from the Deutsmolder Conservatory of Music in Germany. As a recipient of the ERASMUS Music Scholarship, Ms. Zheng furthered her studies at the National Superior Conservatory of Music in Paris before receiving her master’s degree in oboe performance from the National Conservatory of Music in Dresden in 2016. Ms. Zheng’s primary mentors include Jozsef Kiss, Céline Moinet, David Walter, Maurice Bourgue, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Albrecht Mayer, Jonathan Kelly, Dominik Wollenweber, Emmanuel Abbühl, Diethelm Jonas, and Matthias Becker.
 
Ms. Zheng has appeared in several music festivals in Europe, including the Olivier Messiaen Memorial Music Festival and the Detmold Music Festival, and won first prize of the Emsbueren International woodwinds Competition. She has also collaborated with the New Music Orchestra of Dresden Staatskapelle, the Brunswick Symphony Orchestra, and the Detmold Baroque Chamber Orchestra, among others, and has performed under the direction of Mastro Kurt Masur, Michael Sanderling, Jeffrey Tate, and Zoltàn Kocsis.

Winner of the Excellent Youth Music Competition in Ningbo, Ms. Zheng has been the principal oboist of the Ningbo Orchestra since its establishment and has toured with the orchestra across China and Europe. In addition to performing, Ms. Zheng is committed to music education and serves as the mentor of Ningbo Youth Symphony Orchestra.
