Yu Feng, Professor, doctoral advisor and the famous conductor. At present, he is a Vice Chairman of the Party Group of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Vice Chairman of the China Musicians Association, the representative of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the chief member of the first Aesthetic Education Steering Committee for Colleges and Universities, the Deputy Director of the National Art Degree Graduate Education Committee, the Vice Chairman of the China Art Education Promotion Association and the National MFA Education Steering Committee, the President of the Conductors Society of Chinese Musicians Association and the Vice President of China Art Education Promotion Association.
Professor Yu Feng formerly served as the President of Central Conservatory of Music, the president, artistic director, and chief conductor of China National Opera House. He was selected as one of the national leading talents of “Ten Thousand Talent Program” in Philosophy and Social Sciences and was listed in the “Four Batches Talents Project” by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee. He also was crowned as the Expert with Outstanding Contributions of the State Council and the Advanced Individual in Teaching and Morality of China. He attended the Forum on Literature and Art conducted by General Secretary Xi Jinping in 2014. His awards include the “Five One Project Outstanding Works Award” of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, China Golden Record Award, the Excellent Conductor Award of China’s Ministry of Culture, the first prizes in Portugal International Conducting Competition and the China National Conducting Selection Competition. Professor Yu Feng founded “Chinese Modern Conducting Teaching Pedagogy” and won the second prize of the National Education and Teaching Achievement Award. He was invited to give conducting masterclasses all around of the world. He hosted eight major national and provincial projects of China’s Science and Technology, Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, and National Art Fund. Besides, he published 14 papers.
As a conductor, Professor Yu Feng created many “firsts” in the field of Chinese Opera Art. He has been invited to cooperate with famous orchestras both at home and abroad for many times. He organized and founded the “International Opera Season”. He also planned, produced and conducted a large number of world classic operas such as Turandot, Carmen, Der Ring des Nibelungen as well as many Chinese original operas such as White-Haired Girl and Hong Bang Tailors, highly praised by the audience domestically and internationally.
